monday's mulling: the harvest moon {october 2, 2023}

Moon magic once again. August's super blue moon lit the sky on my daughter Lauren's birthday; September's super Harvest Moon illuminated the night sky for my daughter Sara's wedding.

The day after the wedding, T and I went to dinner with friends and on our walk back to the hotel, while strolling over the Clark Street bridge, we were blessed with this beautiful view of the Chicago River, the sparkling skyline, and the Harvest Moon. An iPhone doesn't do justice to this scene but when it's the only camera you have, ya use whatcha got to preserve the memory.

On our drive back to Ohio, we traveled through rural Indiana to avoid the road construction mayhem around Indianapolis. True to the Harvest Moon lore, the farmers were out in full force harvesting their corn. The dust from the combines filled the air as they drove in straight lines from one end of the fields to the other. Mileage-wise we took the long way around but time-wise, we beat the I-70 clock.

What a marvelous night for a moondance ~

  1. Great photo, I love Chicago. Our main office is on the north side of the river at Clark Street.
