We finally ate at Katz's Deli!
The oldest deli in New York, Katz’s Delicatessen, is famous for its "mile-high" sandwiches and deli classics.
Katz's is also famous for its appearance in “When Harry Met Sally” which premiered in 1989. In honor of the movie, Katz's hangs a sign over the table Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal's characters ate at in the movie. It reads, "Where Harry Met Sally...Hope you have what she had! Enjoy!"
We ordered a Reuben with pastrami (Katz's pastrami is world famous!) on rye bread, two chocolate egg creams, and got a free plate of pickles, which were a mixture of full sour pickles and half sour pickles.
The restaurant was packed, we walked around to find a place to sit after ordering, and wiggled our way to two seats against the wall. We shared a sandwich, ate every pickle, and slurped our way to the bottom of the egg cream glasses.
After lunch, we took a very leisurely walk back to the hotel, taking in the city vibes, and stopping to rest at Union Square Park. It was a good day in the Big Apple.
