A friend post this photo on his Facebook page and one of the comments under it was, "A pareidolist would have a heyday with this photo!"
So what is a pareidolist?
It's easier to define pareidolia: par· ei· do· lia ˌ(per-ˌī-ˈdō-lē-ə -ˈdōl-yə): the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern. The scientific explanation for some people is pareidolia, or the human ability to see shapes or make pictures out of randomness. Think of the Rorschach inkblot test.
What do you see in this photo? Are you a pareidolist?
Looks like bark, or a topographical map.
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me of a topographic map, too...a few lakes and lots of elevations. Also a couple dinosaur skulls.
DeleteHmm...sometimes I do see shapes or faces in photos like this but today all I'm seeing is the bark of a tree.
