Coming off last week's winter storm my thoughts drift to bright blue skies, warm sunshine, sea breezes, and sand between my toes.
Last May, T and I got the urge to travel to get away from the COVID craziness. Even though COVID was (and still is) worldwide, we went to the "One Happy Island," Aruba, for a week. We wanted a relaxed island vibe, a change of culture, guaranteed sunshine, beautiful beaches, good seafood, and friendly people. Aruba checks all of those boxes and more.
Aruba is a small island in the Netherland Antilles and Arubans speak 5 different languages: their native Papiamento, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, and English. At the hotels and restaurants it was so fascinating to watch an Aruban transition from one language to another as he or she talked to the various guests.
Aruba ta dushi! (Aruba is lovely!)
