the friday feed: a fun find! {december 1, 2023}

At our hotel breakfast, our daughter sat down and showed me a Heinz mustard packet that showed Ohio and its chili dog. I went up to get my food, grabbed a mustard packet, and it showed Illinois and its Chicago hot dog. Funny that my Chicago girl got Ohio and her Ohio mama got Illinois.

I did a little googling and found that this past summer Heinz celebrated quintessential dishes from all 50 states in its first-ever limited edition collection of condiment packets. Dubbed "Saucemerica," the packets feature designs and pair with the most iconic dishes from each of the 50 states - think tartar sauce with Maryland crab cakes and yellow mustard with Illinois’ Chicago Dog.

From June to August, Heinz distributed a mix of these special packets all over the country across restaurants, movie theaters, stadiums, and anywhere else you’d typically find to-go condiments. Each state's packaging is unique and the sauce inside is one of seven Heinz products, including Ketchup, Yellow Mustard, Real Mayonnaise, Ranch, BBQ Sauce, Tartar Sauce, or Simply Ketchup.

The promotion is in support of Kraft Heinz’s recently launched global campaign, “It has to be Heinz,” which celebrates the irrational love people have for the brand’s products. The ‘Saucemerica’ campaign connects that idea to Americans’ love of collecting," senior brand manager Matthew Schiess said. “There is something beautiful about ‘collection culture’ and the love people have for collecting unique items – from art to coins and more; Heinz packets are no different. Saucemerica is all about uplifting and celebrating fans collecting Heinz packets in their cars, purses, drawers at home, and more.”

And I have two mustard packets in my purse.
