heart of gold {october 7, 2021}

One year ago today during COVID lockdown, my big dog Ted and I took daily walks around downtown Dayton. It was eerily empty and quiet but at the same time was so comforting walking with this big guy. The sidewalks were golden, covered by the locust leaves. Although the streets and sidewalks were empty, little signs of life and signs of hope popped up. Someone took the time to make a heart from locust leaves to give a smile to the few who passed along the sidewalk.

So today, one year after living in Dayton, and 6 months after Ted died, I made a heart out of locust leaves on the sidewalk in front of my house. I hope it brings a smile to anyone who notices.
