It's been a quiet first week of 2025. I found a couple of Christmas decoration stragglers to put away and I still need to put the Snow Village back in their many, many boxes, but right now the Snow Village will stay up. It's rather apropos to keep the display now that we have 11" of snow on the ground.
We went downtown to a small theater to see "A Complete Unknown," the story about Bob Dylan. I remember Bob Dylan's music but knew nothing of his story. Wow, hitching a ride to New York City to meet his idol Woody Guthrie and then gig by gig making it into the folk music scene was a gutsy move for a young man from Minnesota. I enjoyed seeing scenes from NYC, mainly Greenwich Village, and other landmarks that are still there.
As we walked to the Neon Theater, we passed this street art, "Fluid Dynamics." The Erie Canal passed through this site in the late 19th century. More to follow about this sculpture. |
Todd's phone wasn't working, he couldn't get it to charge, so we went to the nearby phone store. The young man took his handy dandy cleaning tool and fished out a bunch of lint that was clogging the charging port. The young man politely asked Todd if he would like to look into an upgrade because the phone is NINE!!! years old. That's my boy...use it until it doesn't work. No new phone yet. This will be an adventure in comparing every single phone and company and phone plan. Hope his phone holds out that long.
The snow storm is the big news of the week. The city trucks had been out plowing and salting the roads starting on Sunday, Monday the main roads were drivable if you went 25 mph, and the side roads were a work-in-progress, except for my street. It was in great shape compared to the other side streets. Pays to have the City Manager as a neighbor. I did brave the roads on Monday to go to a chiropractor appointment and after that the car stayed in the garage. We shoveled the snow off the driveway twice and stayed comfy and cozy in the house for the rest of the day.
My daughter sent an invitation for her little boy's first birthday party. Nothing like going to Chicago in February but what a first year to celebrate. The first 2 1/2 months of his life were tough (he was born with a hole in his heart) but he was tougher and thanks to modern medicine and his amazing doctors he is thriving. Our family is blessed and ready to celebrate his first trip around the sun!
Well done to AJ for getting through a tough time. Definitely calls for a great party to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteHe's a little trooper as are his parents.
DeleteOh wow, that birthday invitation is adorable. Looks like you have a snow village inside the house as well as one outside. The inside one is much warmer.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying both snow scenes. As my friend says, if you choose not to find joy in the snow, you will have less joy in your life, but the same amount of snow.
