the snow-pocalypse

The first big snow storm of the season is scheduled to start today around noon and end on Monday.  Earlier in the week forecasts were for 12-18" of snow but now it's gone down to 8-10".  My husband is tracking this very closely and giving me hourly updates. I'm in the we'll-deal-with-it-when-it-gets-here camp. The snow accumulation doesn't bother me as much as the power company's warnings that the power could go out. The temperature is supposed to bet brutally cold with the wind chill factor even colder. Even though my fridge and freezer are well-stocked, I did join the masses at the grocery store on Saturday morning to get a few basics: milk for my coffee, butter to make my daughter's favorite cookies, cheese for cheese and crackers (Todd's favorite snack), some brown rice and a few veggies to make a to make a sweet and spicy salmon rice bowl for a meal if we're snowed in and barring that the power doesn't go out. (Please don't let the power go out, please don't let the power go out).

Snowpocalypse, Snowmageddon, Snowzilla...whatever kind of snow comes you can make lemonade out of lemons. Just don't eat the yellow snow!

  1. One nice thing about life at this age, is when it snows I can sit back and watch and I don't have to go out.

    1. Sitting back and watching the snow, curling up underneath a cozy blanket with a good book are a couple good ways to pass the time.

  2. Good luck with the snow. I did hear about this on the news last night. Fingers crossed that electricity stays strong.

    1. Thanks so much. The storm is scheduled to hit around 6:00 pm now. Fingers crossed it won't be as strong as it was first predicted.
