A trip to New York a couple weeks ago gave Todd the opportunity to attend a conference for a few days and for me to get away from the house dust and embrace the wanderlust.
We flew into LaGuardia Terminal B on American and as we walked to ground transportation we passed a series of windows with quotes dedicated to Fiorello LaGuardia.
Patience and Fortitude.
Two majestic lions sit proudly in front of the New York Public Library. During the Great Depression, Mayor LaGuardia dubbed them Patience and Fortitude, after the qualities he felt New Yorkers needed to get through it. The lions' names have not changed and remain symbols for what the NYPL represents: a source of inspiration and strength.
FYI, Patience is the south lion and Fortitude is the north. An easy way to remember which one is which, Fortitude is closest to Forty-Two (42nd) Street.
