wordy wednesday...crepuscular rays {august 17, 2022}

A friend who is a brilliant aerospace engineer once posted a photo on FB entitled, "This morning's crepuscular rays." Rather than going into the definition and the science, the picture shows rather than tells what crepuscular rays are.

Me, being the word nerd, I like definitions and explanations and word origins so here you go. Crepuscular rays, or god rays, are sunbeams that originate when the sun is just below the horizon, during the twilight period. These rays are noticeable when the contrast between light and dark is most obvious. Crepuscular comes from the Latin word crepusculum, meaning "twilight."

The other day while doing a hectic last minute I-need-an-ingredient-for dinner grocery store run, the sun was setting and I stopped to take a picture. Dinner was already a little bit late, a few more minutes wouldn't make a difference, so enjoy the moment. An everyday blessing in my everyday life for which I am most grateful.
