found it! {august 6, 2022}

Ohio. Find It Here.

On our return drive from Virginia, road weary from driving through pouring rain in the mountains and just sitting for a long time in the car, we crossed into Ohio and passed signs for the Bob Evans Farm. T said, “We have to stop.” He found IT.

Our stop wasn’t to get a bite to eat. It was to rile up our kids in the family chat.

When we visited T’s parents and took them out to dinner, Dad always wanted to go to Bob Evans. That’s where we always went. T downloaded the Bob Evans app and got (and still gets) every promotion offered. And he forwards them to the kids on the fam chat, which leads to all kinds of banter.

The original Bob Evans Farm, Restaurant, Homestead, and Museum are in Rio (pronounced rye-oh) Grande, Ohio, just a couple miles off Route 35. The sun was setting, we got to the farm and snapped a few quick photos, hopped back in the car, all in the course of 20 minutes. And of course forwarded the photos to the kids…

Bob Evans lived ”down on the farm” in southeastern Ohio for nearly 20 years. He and his wife, Jewell, raised their six children in the large brick farmhouse known as the Homestead. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the Homestead was once a stagecoach stop and an inn.

What fun to unexpectedly find "it" and then hear about "it" from the kids!

  1. Often the highlight, is the unexpected that we stumble across
